Seam Welded Floor

Seam welded underside of floor. Distortion evident to some extent but not too bad really. Should be taken up by the seat support braces when they are fitted. Welded 12 inches at a time alternating from side to side and front to back. Also completed some other welding while the chassis was upside down.

Made up and fitted extra tubes to help to support the overhanging upper front wishbones mountings (see earlier in diary for details of why they overhang). Just cut some 1" tubing with a 45deg angle on each end and fitted behind overhang. Capped the ends of the tubes with 3mm plate and seam welded. Should be much better than the alternate simple gusset method. Here is a couple of pictures to describe this better:

Did lots of grinding....lots and lots....

Floor Welded

Floor now welded in as you can see. I have completed all of the seam welding that I can see but I do still seem to find the occasional missed weld. I'll find any remaining missed welds as I prep the chassis for priming.

As you can also see I've raised the chassis up on axle stands so that I can hopefully complete the rest of the build in situ. This also yields a handy storage place under the chassis for wishbones, axle assemblies and the like.
